TABAQ BOX speakers

2021

My third set of TABAQ speakers, this time the folded BOX version to use at my desk.

The ferrite 4FE35 drivers seem to be far less well behaved in these boxes than the neo 4FE32 that were often recommended. I ended up needing to apply quite an agressive & complex EQ to get them sounding good, using REW (Room EQ Wizard) with a measurement mic to create a set of filters for Equalizer APO to apply system wide on my computer. The final three images below show

  1. the measured frequency response of the speakers before (green) & after (orange) correction with REW & Equalizer APO
  2. the set of filters that REW generated to achieve this correction
  3. the measured corrected frequency response against the target Harman curve

Painted with a foam roller, then finished with an aerosol clear coat.
