Lochmaddy Hospital

Whilst I was living on North Uist last summer I totally didn’t pay a visit to the abandoned hospital, that happened to be literally half a mile away from where I was staying, to take a bunch of grainy snapsh!ts. Somebody had evidently been there before & broken in, so access was easy.

You can’t see it in this photo, but the floor had disintegrated here where water had been getting in, revealing a not insubstantial drop beneath into the basement/foundations.

This led toward the main section of the hospital where I expect there would’ve been stairs, but with how wet/damp the whole place was & the complete lack of phone signal I wasn’t about to risk falling through the stairs or the first floor.

  1. You’re correct, there is an upstairs which was the staff locker room and the governors quarters (a flat I’m led to believe)
