Okay, so only 3x Clip posts this year is pretty poor, but in my defence I did spend a substantial amount of time since the last post living on a remote island where I didn’t wear it, so…
Starting off halfway through the island stay, when I came back to the mainland for a friend’s wedding. Trying to pay a conference registration before the midnight deadline when the fees increased.
Managed to meet up with Ruth while I was passing through St Andrews.
Back on the island, I left the Clip pointing out of the window of one of the places I stayed to capture the tide coming in & out. One day I might get around to turning it into a timelapse.
Fast forwarding to the end of the summer once I’d returned from the island, trying to open up another CAM-in wrist strap through the ridiculous amount of tape they seem to use.
I think this was the first time I met Luke’s new office friend :3
Moving office for me.
I swear we do occasionally go to other bars…
And other restaurants…
In Aikmans catching up on the cat calendar that I had missed while on the island.
Late night veg kebab?
Then it was Freshers’ Week, with the newly redeveloped venue open for the first time.
Clip hijacked.
Somebody must’ve broken a server.
Cleaning years worth of dust out of some amps.
Before seeing how much noise we can make.
Clip photo of a Snapchat photo?
More Clip hijacking.
Edwin at his usual spot.
This never gets old it seems!
I shot a ton of video that week, which I’ve only just started trying to cut together into a little behind-the-scenes documentary.
Hired in an X32 (they then bought one a few weeks later).
Still warm enough to walk home without a coat, apparently.
Lovely new album from Etherwood.
These ones have to get posted.
Trying to attract new members with videos I took.
Then at the end of September I passed my PhD viva with minor corrections & we had prosecco.
And then more Jahangir :)
About a day after the viva, on a plane to Spain for a conference.
Terminal 5, the modern couple.
At the conference in Granada.
The conference lunches each day seemed to come with never ending supplies of beer.
At some point I had to present a paper.
Another lunch, another couple of beers.
Went to dinner in the old part of the city. Bad thing about rushing to the conference straight after the viva & spending all day every day in the conference venue meant not really getting a chance to actually see the sights.
Checking out, paying my rock star room service bill (€15).
One of three flights to get back.
Decent meal & a London Pride was warmly welcomed by the time I made it to terminal 5.
Greeted back to Scotland by darkness & rain.
Priorities straight once back in St Andrews.
Down to London for a stag do, late night British Museum to start.
Me sporting my new hairdo.
We were headed toward Kings Cross the following morning & I wanted to check out a place I knew nearby that supposedly does great coffee, but it was full. So we went to the place next door & they did excellent coffee!
And the toasted banana loaf with vanilla ricotta & passion fruit sauce was an odd but delicious breakfast choice.
Went to the bathroom.
High tea with fancy tiny sandwiches.
Two weeks later, on the way to the wedding, picking up the essentials for the drive (for the passengers, obviously).
Trying a restaurant that wasn’t Jahangir!
Back in St Andrews, another PhotoSoc exhibition & auction (afterparty snapsh!ts in a previous post).
Shooting some frames on the Bessa, which was neglected over the summer with the all-digital workflow on the island.
